Late last year I started working on my fitness level with the goal of doing the Danskin Triathlon this coming August. I have worked with many trainers and always had the goal to be able to run a mile. I could never do it -- not even in Jr. High or High School P.E. class.
In November, I started working out with a new trainer and told him I had the specific goal of being able to run a mile. He told me I was setting my sights too low. I thought he was being a little over-zealous. Now I'm happy to admit to being wrong. Rob not only helped me get to run a mile, but got me to run an entire 5K (3.106 miles) straight.
On Saturday, the DH and I ran the Valentine's Day Dash around Greenlake in Seattle.
In the picture, the DH is the one with the number on his leg and I'm in the green jacket and pink ball cap right behind him.
Finishing the race without walking even one step was one of the best feelings I've ever had. I'm thrilled that I have achieved the first part of my goal, or rather achieved the greater goal that my trainer put in place. Soon I'll be easily swimming a half mile and biking 12 miles without a thought. I will be a triathlete. And that will feel even better than the 5K.

Way to go Noelle, it really is great to accomplish a 5k. I know what it is like being ridiculously behind the pack when you start training and being able to run the whole way when you are done.
Huzzah! I love it when we work hard so that our bodies can do more. I'm so happy for you! I bet that finish line felt great. I can't tell if you're smiling or not, but I bet there was a lot of smiling after that victory.
I'm so impressed! I tried to run on the treadmill the other day and lasted 30 seconds...
Who's that handsome lad who finished just in front of you?? Are you staring @ his rump?
Way to go, sister! You totally rocked that 5K.
Hooray! You rock! One of these days, I, too, am going to run an entire 5K. Thanks for the inspiration!
That is fantastic Noelle. That is a huge accomplishment. Way To Go!
I'm just now seeing this- I wanted to say GOOD JOB! I am not too keen on running and hope that I can someday be a little more diligent about it.
What a great goal!
You Rock girl! You look great, congratulations!!!!
I just jumped in my seat and clapped for you. I remember the first time I was able to run a full mile and it was amazing. You WILL be able a triathelete, I just know it.
