Working for the Weekend

Well, it's been a really long week. I had a huge proposal due by 5:00 Eastern on Friday and it ended up taking up all my spare time all week. And I really mean it. I didn't even go to My Ice Cream Diary's surprise birthday party on Thursday. The good news is that everything got done and submitted on time. It just came at a price. Of course, that has me thinking about the decisions I've made lately and has me a bit worried about my current job. I'm going to have to figure out how to have better boundaries with my time. It's not really one of my strong suits, but I'm definitely going to work on it.

On Saturday, the DH and I went out to breakfast and I had crepes in honor of Annzy's birthday. Happy Birthday girly girl!!! And then, we bought some plants that the DH planted in the yard and I didn't do much of anything else. I did run to the grocery store for some sustenance, and then we got together with some friends for dinner, but it was very low key. I've not done a thing today either. It almost makes up for the ugly week.

I'm so sorry you weren't able to come. It was lots of fun. You have always been a busy woman, and you sound busier than ever before. I hope you survive it all. =) (I know you will.)

The whole work/life balance is challenging. My job as of late has been overwhelming, as I've taken on all sorts of new clients with the promise of getting more staff, then all the staff reductions came two weeks ago. All approved openings were cut for this fiscal year. Sometimes I think I need to leave corporate America and open up a gourmet kitchen and food shop and work when I want to, and be my own boss. I'm getting tired of corporate politics, ridiculous turn around time frames, and internal corporate mud slinging. UGH!

On the flip side, I'm grateful I have my job and really hope the insane time aspects of it get better over the next several months.

Sorry to hear work is so hectic for you! I'm glad you were able to balance that a bit with a nice lazy weekend. It's hard to set up boundaries at work, especially in a management position. I hope it will get better.
